Hi, I'm Alexia.

I'm a jumper trainer based in Ocala, where I run Millbrook Equestrian — teaching lessons, developing horses, and living the kind of life that revolves entirely around the barn.

Like most trainers, I was always looking for ways to improve my riders' position and confidence in the saddle. What I didn't expect was that the answer would come from a horse-buying trip halfway around the world.

The Discovery

In 2014, I traveled to Switzerland to buy horses. While I was there, I noticed something: nearly every rider was using stirrup leathers with a noticeably wider design. It wasn't a trend — it was just the way things were done. And once I saw how they rode, I understood why.

The wider leather increases the surface area your leg balances on, which means more stability, less twisting, and less rubbing. A more balanced leg leads to a more confident rider. It seemed so obvious — so why weren't we using these in North America?

From Idea to Brand

I did a little investigating and connected with Atelier Pravins Sellier, a skilled leather workshop, to bring the leathers to North America. Before launching anything publicly, I tested them thoroughly — in my own school program and with local trainers — for a full year, making sure the quality and durability were everything I'd want to put my name on.

In the spring of 2016, Millbrook Leathers launched. What started as a side project to supplement my training income became something I'm genuinely proud of: a product that makes a real difference in how riders feel in the saddle.

Why It Matters

We believe a great ride starts with a great leg. When a rider has a stable, balanced position, their confidence rises — and so does their horse's. Every pair of Millbrook leathers is made with that in mind.
